What are you drinking this Summer?

Welcome Summer!  It is the time for outdoor entertaining and for enjoying the warm sunshine while we have it. This year it feels like it has already started, maybe before we were even ready. However, it is now in full swing and it is time to get ready.

Red or white?

If you are a red winelover, don’t despair. Red wines are also excellent to enjoy over Summer. Choose a medium bodied red wine with light tannins, such as a pinot noir, gamay, grenache, bonarda. Make sure though that you serve it at the best temperature for that wine. Here are some great tips on how to do just that!

White wines and rosé wines offer their unique type of refreshment during the Summer months. Add bubbles and you even bring out a celebratory vibe whatever the occasion. However, any chilled white or rosé is also a great match for the dishes and flavours that we typically eat over summer.  Particularly salads, seafood, BBQ, and lighter meats and flavours.

Take inspiration from the classic beach holiday destinations such as the South of France, Spain and Greece. Even the British beach classic of Fish & Chips is an excellent match with many white wines and rosé wines.

What about a Sparkling Red?

A Sparkling Red is one of those wines that is a delightful combination of red fruity flavours dripping with ripeness and the lightness of bubbles. They go very well with food, including burgers, spicy chicken salad, venison bangers or blackbean beef. Without a doubt though, they are very delicious without needing food at all.
