About this wine
Quinta do Crasto is a family run wine estate in the Douro region of Portugal, a region that until recently was known solely for their Port wines. This is one of the many excellent red wines that are now such a part of the region’s diverse offerings. The current family owners, the Roquette family, have cared for these vineyards from other a century. The name Crasto means ‘Roman Fort’.
The Altitude has spent 12 months in old French oak barrels to mature before being bottled.
Tasting note
A bold yet fuller bodied wine with expressive red berry and spice characters. There is a smoothness and spice coming from the time in old oak barrels. This is an elegant and supple wine with a concentration on keeping the wine fresh.
Food pairing suggestions
Enjoy with beef, lamb and venison or heavily seasoned vegetables.
