About this wine
Fontanafredda is a wine with a royal history. The estate purchased by Vittorio Emanuele, the first King of Italy in 1858. It is now owned by owners who have converted the estate’s vineyards to using organic farming methods. Fontanafredda is still a trusted producer for fine quality Barolo and sparkling wines along with other Piemont specialities.
The grapes for this Gavi are carefully selected and then lightly crushed in square caged presses. After crushing they are fermented in stainless steel.
Tasting note
Gavi di Gavi is one of the most fashionable white wines Italy makes and this delicately floral example, exuding lemons, lilies of the valley and green apples, makes it easy to see why.
Food pairing suggestion
With its nutty almond flavours, this Gavi is a good match with roasted chicken or quail. Or salad sprinkled with toasted pine nuts and feta garden salad.
