About this wine
It all started with a parcel of vines. When Louis-Henri Jadot purchased the Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules in 1826 the story of Maison Louis Jadot began. One of his key aims, as well as to make top wines, was to build a significant vineyard base. This vision remains core to the business today.
Louis Jadot’s philosophy in the vineyard and in the winery is one of minimal intervention. For the past 20 years Louis Jadot has banished the use of all synthetic products (fertilisers, herbicides etc) on their own vineyard soils, applying traditional practices instead. All work is done either by tractor, or for the more inaccessible sites, by horse.
One of the most famous white wines in the world and one for which Louis Jadot is justifiably famous.
Produced in the Mâconnais region of Burgundy, this famous wine is partially barrel fermented with 6 months of ageing in French oak casks. The judicious, subtle use of oak allows Louis Jadot’s Pouilly-Fuissé to retain its complexity and structure.
Tasting note
This wine has aromas of fresh red apples, honey and white flowers with elegant and rich flavors of toasted nuts and citrus. One of the purest expressions of this typical Burgundian grape.
A lovely rich wine that shows the true delights of Chardonnay, soft and elegant with a rich mouth feel, delicate use of oak and good acid balance.
Food pairing suggestions
Grilled and roasted white meats, fish, shellfish and mature cheese.
