Featured wine of the month – Zuccardi Valles Bonarda
A vibrant choice of red!
Our featured wine of the month for September is the Zuccardi Valles Bonarda.
The Zuccardi family is one of Argentina’s best known wine making families. Recently they reclaimed their win being awarded ‘The World’s Best Vineyard 2021’. An award they have also won for the previous two years.
The family have been growing wines in Mendoza since 1963, when Sebastian Zuccardi’s grandfather planted vines in Maipu. Alberto Zuccardi was an engineer who specialised in irrigation. His pioneering irrigation work at the foot of the towering Andes mountain range soon developed into a passion for wine.
Both Jose Zuccardi and now his son Sebastian have built on Alberto’s legacy. Expanding into new regions and new grape varieties.
And the rest as they say….is history!
Not just the World’s Best Vineyard, but also a 100 pointer!
The Zuccardi family are particularly well known for their consistent quality at all price points. From the wines that are superb everyday through to those who much talked about by wine experts across the globe. And it doesn’t get much better than a perfect score in wine. Robert Parker’s team at the Wine Advocate have just given a 100 point score to the Zuccardi Finca Piedra Infinita Gravascal 2018.
Of course, while our featured wine of the month is the Zuccardi Valles Bonarda, you should certainly check out the other Zuccardi wines on our range. Our range includes the perfumed and crisp Zuccardi Valles Torronteswhich is a great white wine for drinking over summer. Plus, the Zuccardi Q Malbec is a superb choice if you are looking for a fuller bodied red with a difference. At a recent tasting, this wine was a definite favourite.
Finally, there is also the Zuccardi Q Tempranillo which is a warm, plush and smooth full bodied red.
Did you know! That four other of our producers appeared in the Top 50 list for The World’s Best Vineyards…
About the Zuccardi Valles Bonarda:
This is a vibrantly purple hued red wine that is elegantly fruity. It is bold but still soft and lush. There is an abundance of cherry, black currant and black berry fruit with a subtle spiced oak finish.
Serving suggestions:
This wine is good to enjoy without food too, but it goes very well with a BBQ, or a juicy burger. Or you could serve it with some lamb chops topped with a dollop of pesto.
