Featured Wine of The Month – Kim Crawford Pinot Gris

Our featured wine of the month for October is the Kim Crawford Pinot Gris.
Kim Crawford and his wife, Erica, started this brand in the mid 1990s drawing grapes from throughout New Zealand. Kim was already an experience winemaker and this was his next challenge. Today, owned by one of the largest global wine companies, the brand has become loved by many across the world.
The winemaker’s today have continued with the philosophy that Kim had when he first started making his wines. Including not making wines with higher sugar levels meaning that only high quality and ripe grapes are used to produce their wines.
This month, we have chosen a Pinot Gris as Wine of the Month
This month, we have chosen a Pinot Gris as Wine of the Month as it is a great wine for this time of year. It still offers the fresh fruitiness that Sauvignon Blanc offers, but also this wine has a richer depth. It has some additional complex characters that make this wine a winning choice with or without food.
There is also a small quantity of Gewurztraminer from the Bendigo region in Central Otago to give the wine an extra spicy lift of fragrance and flavour.

About the Kim Crawford Pinot Gris:
This white has a pale straw hue. It has a lovely lifted orchard fruit aromatics of ripe pear and quince with honey, floral notes and a touch of citrus. The palate is clean and fresh with subtle orange blossom and Braeburn apples.
Serving suggestions:
This white wine has enough body and intensity to be a great wine to enjoy with chicken, baked fish with a creamy or buttery sauce, maybe with some flaked roasted almonds, vegetable lasagne or other pasta.
