About the wine
Bolgheri is the birthplace of modern Italian wine – where new world meets old world. It is in the far western corner of Tuscany, along the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea in an area known as the Maremma. Bolgheri is perhaps the Italians’ best-kept secret.
Renowned for its seaside food and wine tourism, Bolgheri (province of Livorno, coastal Tuscany) offers a wide range of recreational experiences: from family-friendly campgrounds to some of Europe’s finest seafood dining and five-star accommodations. Noted for its classic macchia (Italian) or maquis(the classic Mediterranean scrub of the Tuscan Riviera), Bolgheri is blessed with some of Italy’s most beautiful landscapes, the ideal setting for the production of fine wine and for food and wine tourism.
Tasting note
Bright and deep colour with subtle, elegant aromas of dried flowers, pollen and sweet spices. The wine shows restraint on the palate, showing austerity and an upright structure with typical notes of the local Mediterranean bushes and berries. The harmony between good acidity and firm tannins provides the premise for an excellent aging potential.
Food pairing suggestions
A succulent red such as this will be excellent with a juicy steak with truffled sauce, or a venison stew. Or matured hard cheeses.
